Undergraduate Research
The University of South Carolina at Beaufort is developing an undergraduate
research program that involves undergraduates in research projects conducted
on Pritchards Island. Pritchards Island is a nearby undeveloped barrier island
owned by the University of South Carolina. The island is preserved in its
natural state for research and education through the university.
Currently, research projects are being conducted by faculty and students
in the following areas:
1. Characterization of sediment nutrient chemistry in overwash fan areas.
2. Distribution of benthic meiofauna in overwash sediments.
3. Utilization of overwash areas by juvenile and adult nekton.
